Gulaab Gang synopsis (Story)
In the midst of the Hindi heartland, an ashram has been set up by Rajjo (Madhuri Dixit) for the protection of women. They are taught to fend for themselves. They grind spices, weave baskets and learn self defence. Rajjo has tied up with a political party but is put off by their evil machinations. The party is headed by a woman, Sumitra Devi (Juhi Chawla), whose political ambitions have overcome her empathy towards the oppressed. Rajjo vows to battle this devil at the ballot box.

The main problem with Gulab Gang is the fact that the producer and director clearly started off this film with a vision of Women of steel (the good side) versus the Women of Iron (The bad side) and the fact that women are strong enough against men. Fair enough. But you end up with is the usualy good versus bad with a political backdrop which has been seen before and the fact that it is all women becomes irrelevant.
